MIA — Quick update

I want to post a quick update of why I’ve been away.

No, I didn’t fall off the wagon again. Following my own tips written in my last post, I’ve been having no issues staying productive.

I had some nasty stomach pain that forced me to temporarily drastically alter my diet and exercise. My symptoms fit the description of an ulcer perfectly, so I’m treating it.

One week into treating it, I finally returned to running, fasting, and working… only to come down with a nasty sore throat at the end of that same day.

I’m usually shut down for a good week when I get sick, mostly due to frequent migraines. I usually drink, sleep, and try to kill time until I can return to work.

When I’m sick it’s kind of like the motivation gets vacuumed out of me. Maybe I should try to figure out a way to built and maintain productivity without having to fulfil so many requirements.

My gamedev partner was amused when I told him I needed another break. Thankfully he’s a good friend and didn’t mind.

This is the 4th time I’ve had to go on a break within 4 months. My father died, I had food poisoning, I fell off the wagon, and I had awful ulcer pain then sickness.

This is easily the most eventful year of my life: both good and bad.

Hope to return to building my gamedev experience soon! I’m shooting for next week.

I fell off the wagon last month and I’ve since learned how to make a full recovery from scratch. I learned how to beat procrastination. Similar to finding a good diet, it wasn’t a “trick” that helped, it was developing the correct mindset and maintaining it.

I’ll go over the things that will help you build the mindset that will make you fearless of your work. For those in a hurry, there’s a cheat sheet at the bottom.
